Plot: During the chaotic final weeks of the Vietnam War, the North Vietnamese closed in on Saigon as the South Vietnamese resistance crumbled. As Communist victory became inevitable and the U.S. readied to withdraw, some Americans began to consider the certain imprisonment and possible death of their South Vietnamese allies, co-workers and friends. With the the clock ticking and the city under fire, American officers on the ground faced a moral dilemma: follow directive from Washington to evacuate U.S. citizens and their dependents only — or break the law to save the men, women and children they had come to value and love during their years in Vietnam. At the risk of their careers and possible court-martial, a handful of individuals took matters into their own hands in a desperate effort to save as many South Vietnamese lives as possible.
